Routine, and a SPECIAL COMMENT

I had initially thought of routine as something terribly constricting, limiting, life-sucking.  As a young woman and teenager I rejected routine whenever and wherever possible.  Including any and all organizational methods\tools
strategies.

I won't get into the long story of my awakening to the amazing empowerment that comes from routine and organization but I will admit that I now recognize and appreciate the value of a healthy routine and am trying to incorporate more of it into my life. (I will always be spontaneous and enjoy the last-minute, the unpredictable, the whim, so never fear!)

This blog has been part of that.  Recently my friend Andrea had committed herself to YOGA daily which is awesome, and something I have faught tooth-and-nail when given the opportunity for such in the past.  But it got me thinking about my ACTORs WARM-UP that I learned after high school and so thoroughly enjoyed.  It has alot of yoga type stuff in it, especially because it centers on finding the breath and getting limber enough to survive night after night of performances.  I miss that discipline.  I miss the Linklater breathing and the vocal warm-ups and the taking time to get in touch with my body and commune with the well of my soul.

But I always feel a bit foolish doing it here alone with no show to get to.  So I haven't done it in years.

But I really want to do something physical everyday (um, besides the bedroom fun), something healthy for my body and my spirit.  SO I'mma ponder that and let you know what I come up with.  It could be as simple as a walk.  John Adams took a 'constitutional' every day, during which he would feel free to wander and ponder, "I mope, I muse, I ruminate".  Nowadays I think most of us do our best ruminating in the car, but that isn't as healthy is it?  So Perhaps a morning constitutional to get the blood and ideas flowing?  Incidentally John Quincy Adams swam every single day, rain or shine, winter spring summer and fall.  Outdoors, obviously, and he's from fucking Quincy (braintree... now quincy...).   When he was ambassador to england he swam in the channel daily.  People were like: "Guy!  You are going to catch your DEATH!  You are a maniac!"  because it was common wisdom that water made you sick, especially cold water in winter, and most people were eschewing baths because they feared for their lives.  Ben Franklin tried to popularize the "Air Bath" which involved sittting outside naked so that nature's breezes could help cleanse you of your body odors and sweat and such... but I digress.  Anyway J.Q. was adamant that a nice cold dunk daily was the best way to stay fit, and a rigorous swim was the ideal way to keep body and mind fit as a fiddle.  He lived a very long time, so who's to argue with the man? Kate Hepburn also practiced this method of longevity (though I imagine a cold shower often took the place of a full-out swim) and she died at like 98!

But I don't think I'm made of stern enough stuff for that particular routine.

Instead I coze up in my loft and ponder and ruminate into my lappy for you all to read later.  Almost as healthy, right?

YOu may have noticed that I haven't posted fiction in a day or so.  Yeah.  I have tons in the hopper, ready to shoot out at you, but I'm not sure which one I want to post.  I have so much Maggie and Grey, but, good lord I think they're becoming their own romance novel!  I like them.  I like writing for them.  But most of their vignettes are out of order and all over the place so I feel conflicted about posting the stuff for fear of confusing folks or causing you to lose interest.  IDK.  Lemme look through the files and see what I can dust off and put out there.

Meanwhilez I get to go shopping at the MARKET BASKET today!  And later on I am running SOUND BOARD for a show with Starline Academy, my former employers, whom I love and feel great affection for.

Oh, and Andrea has this thing she sometimes does on her blog where she highlights something she'd loving at the moment and appreciates it.  I would like to do this too.

Thing that I'm loving:

A Roasted Red Pepper & Caramelized Onion Omelet with American Cheese from DAYBREAK restaurant on 106.  Heaven on a plate.  Since I first tried it I have been back THREE TIMES for the exact same thing and am happy VERY SINGLE TIME.  I went out to b-fast with my mom yesterday, her treat, and I gobbled that thing down AGAIN!  I feel like it might be the best combination of things in an omelet ever.  So.  Yay.

And their slogan cracked me up:  "Have an Excellent day, not just a Good Day!"  Ba-ZING Good Days!  Lol.  Breakfast eatery rivalry is adorable.  But until Day Break has delicious milkshakes, you all know where my heart lies.

*Special Comment*  Hey Businesses:  Get a website.  Seriously.  In this day and age, SIRS, your really are little better than FOOLS to continue to blithely ignore the technological advancement of the world around you.  SIRS, you are insulting us with the quiant old fashined-ness to which you so desperately cleave.  Are we not worth the effort, SIRS, are we not worth the marginal expense of a web domain and a simple menu to peruse?  We're not expecting anything too flashy, we aren't expecting you to win a WEBBY for your restaurant website, but would it be too much trouble SIRS, would it kill you, SIRS, to have a modicum of consideration for your web-aged consumers?

When in the course of human events, SIRS, when it becomes necessary to link to your 'site' and the best we can do, the very best we can manage, is a link to google maps and a handful of five-year-stale reviews?  That, Sirs, is a shame.  A Damn Shame.  And, let us be frank and call a spade a spade SIRS, it is WRONG.

Goodnight,and Good Luck.

And Get A damned website.  Like, yesterday.

The papi would love your hopper / paintball reference. I have mentioned it to him for his enjoyment. Also, when I have a pool one day, you can come and swim in it with me. My new life goal is to obtain said property with said amazing outdoor space including said pool and to swim in said pool on the daily.
